In northern Moldova, clear and accessible communication on issues of public interest, such as healthcare, justice, the economy, education, and European integration, can improve communities’ access to verified information and help reduce the information environment’s vulnerability to disinformation.
To strengthen public communication at the local level, the Nord Press Club (NPC) has launched a project aimed at strengthening the strategic communication skills of experts from the northern region. The initiative seeks to support professionals working in education, law, entrepreneurship, journalism, public administration, and civil society in communicating more clearly and effectively with their communities.
As part of the project, 20 local experts participated in training sessions led by content creators Alexandru Ghețan and Valeriu Rașcu. Participants learned how to build a personal brand, tailor messages for different online platforms, grow digital communities, and present complex topics in a way that is more accessible to the general public.
“I am pleased to see that the participants came with genuine interest and concrete needs related to their work. They are engaged, ask relevant questions, and are looking for practical solutions. We provided them with tools they can apply in their communication,” said Alexandru Ghețan.
For Mihaela Petrov, a primary school teacher and entrepreneur in the field of education, the training was an opportunity to strengthen her online presence and reach new audiences. “I joined the training to learn how to become more visible on social media and diversify my content. It helped me realise that I need to broaden my audience and communicate not only with teachers, but also with parents and young people interested in education,” she said.
Sergiu Pascari, author of a blog dedicated to the streets and history of the city of Bălți, said the training helped him refine the strategy for his media project. “I came looking for ways to increase the visibility of my media project. I learned how to structure my messages more effectively and identify new channels to reach my audience,” he said.
In the long term, the project aims to establish a network of local communicators who can explain important issues to their communities, promoting verified information, and helping reduce the impact of disinformation in northern Moldova. Through their work, these professionals can help connect experts with citizens and contribute to a better-informed and more resilient public sphere.
