“A Test of Democracy” screened in Cahul, highlighting lessons from the 2025 elections

CAHUL, March 10, 2026 – The documentary “A Test of Democracy,” produced by TV Nord in collaboration with ziuadeazi.md, was screened at the “Iulia Hașdeu” College in Cahul, bringing together young people interested in electoral processes and the impact of disinformation.

The film examines Moldova’s 2025 parliamentary elections, focusing on electoral corruption, campaign strategies, and the role of disinformation. TV Nord reporter Dorin Rusu said the documentary aims to put the flood of information during the campaign into context and offer a clearer understanding of the events.

According to the filmmakers, the elections were marked by heightened tensions, propaganda, external influence, and attempts to manipulate public opinion. The film serves not only as a retrospective, but also as an educational tool to help audiences better understand how democratic processes function.

Speaking at the event, history teacher Ion Gârneț stressed the importance of equipping young people with the skills to recognize and counter disinformation.

Designed as a civic education resource, “A Test of Democracy” seeks to strengthen public understanding of democratic processes and help prevent electoral misconduct by improving access to clear, easy-to-understand information.
