The project “TikTok Radar”, implemented by the Moldova School of Journalism, an ICDC partner, concluded after several months of creative experimentation and learning, achieving an impressive over 650,000 views across its Instagram and TikTok platforms. The initiative proved how short-form videos can be used as powerful tools to promote media literacy and responsible digital storytelling among young people.

Creating impact through digital storytelling

As part of the project, participants developed dozens of short videos exploring how to identify and debunk disinformation, understand biases, and communicate complex ideas in accessible ways. Each video blended creativity with educational purpose, combining journalistic precision with the energy and authenticity of youth expression.

The result, 42 pieces of original content that reached hundreds of thousands of viewers, demonstrates how well-crafted online materials can capture attention while encouraging critical thinking. The videos sparked broad discussions around truth, manipulation, and trust in information sources.

Recognized and expanded reach

The Ministry of Education and Research endorsed the project’s educational value and recommended distributing the materials through the network of 90 Model Schools across Moldova, ensuring that the videos reach even more young audiences. The initiative has since been integrated into national-level communication and awareness activities promoting critical media literacy.

According to the Ministry, the partnership contributes to strengthening the resilience of youth and communities by promoting informed decision-making and responsible engagement in the digital space.

Empowering a new generation of creators

For the participants, TikTok Radar was more than a content campaign, it was a practical learning lab where they discovered how to combine storytelling, visual creativity, and social responsibility. Mentors highlighted the progress achieved and the growing confidence of participants in using digital platforms to produce meaningful, ethical, and engaging communication.

Through “TikTok Radar,” the School of Journalism of Moldova showed how education and innovation can work hand in hand to counter disinformation and inspire a new wave of young creators committed to fact-based communication.
