On 10 September 2025, the Nord Press Club, in partnership with ICDC, held a roundtable in Drochia on “Strengthening Information Resilience in the Pre-Electoral Context.” The event brought together around 50 participants — journalists, teachers, local officials, young leaders, cultural workers, and seniors — from Drochia and nearby districts.
The discussion focused on how disinformation spreads during election periods and what communities can do to recognize and resist manipulation. Speakers explained common tactics such as sensationalism, misleading statistics, and fake visuals, while also sharing practical tools such as fact-checking methods and the STOP approach (Stop, Think, Observe, Prove).
Beyond the expert inputs, participants exchanged their own experiences with false news circulating in schools, among seniors, and on social networks. The conversations highlighted that disinformation is not an abstract problem but one that directly influences daily life, from voting decisions to community trust.
The roundtable also emphasized resilience at the local level. Recommendations included media literacy activities in schools, more cooperation between local authorities and NGOs, and civic education campaigns to encourage responsible information consumption.
The atmosphere was constructive and collaborative, with space for both formal debate and informal networking. Participants left with concrete tools to apply in their work and communities, as well as a stronger sense of shared responsibility for protecting the integrity of the information space during the pre-electoral period.
