Chișinău, July 29, 2025 — A closing event celebrated 12 young interns who produced informative content within three partner editorial teams: Najda4ka and Abraziv (Youth Media Centre), Nord Press Club in Bălți, and TUK.md in Taraclia.Interns, mentors, and partners watched the final materials, discussed challenges and lessons learned, and explored future collaboration. The gathering included feedback sessions, format showcases, and conversations about content for online platforms.
How it all started
In March, editors from the partner outlets identified content formats suited to informing young audiences in their regions. After a competitive selection, 15 young people were invited to Content Creative Camp in Costești. Over four days, they learned to create vlogs, podcasts, explainers, and vox pops, filming on location, editing, and receiving mentor feedback. After camp, 12 were selected for a paid internship at one of the three outlets.
“What I appreciated about this project is that each newsroom proposed its own formats, and the young people were actively involved — they weren’t just observers. The collaboration between mentors and interns continued well beyond the training camp, and that’s reflected in the final materials.”
— Vlad Dumitrașcu, mentor at Abraziv (Youth Media Centre)
Inside the Newsroom
During the internship, young creators became part of the editorial teams, contributing directly to informative, social-friendly productions. The initial three formats grew into seven original video series as participants added their own ideas and voices.
“At first, I wasn’t sure I could pull it off. But with the mentors’ support, the whole process became clear. I learned how a newsroom works, how to build a visual narrative, and how an idea turns into a published piece.”
— Daniel Creangă, intern at Nord Press Club, Bălți
A notable milestone was the launch of a Romanian-language news segment by TUK.md, expanding audience reach and supporting greater linguistic inclusion in southern Moldova’s media landscape.
“We were directly involved in the process — from research to editing. I felt like my voice mattered and that I was part of the team. Both the mentors and the camp trainers supported us and helped us improve the content we created.”
— Olga, intern at TUK.md, Taraclia
The impact of youth-driven content
By late July, the interns’ work had reached thousands of young people and boosted the visibility of participating local newsrooms.
Key results:
Sustainability is built in: several series will continue, and partner newsrooms plan to keep working with some interns—as contributors, freelancers, or future staff.
“Now we have a generation of young people who can produce informative content tailored for social media. They’re not just project beneficiaries — they’re real resources for the newsrooms.”
— Alexandru Ghețan, Project Manager, Youth Media Centre
This initiative marks a meaningful step toward a new generation of skilled, creative communicators shaping Moldova’s media with fresh energy and informed voices.
